At the minute, it’s a brandname that’s dividing opinion.
As idolized since it is hated, you need to have seen a bit of it everywhere, towards the great displeasure of their many critics, who think that in France, Canada Goose will be the new Moncler in a negative sense.
But on the reverse side of the fence, there are several fans who, for love nor money, would not spend a winter without their Canada Goose clothing (and who I do believe only have recently joined the club ).
Important: I lived in Montreal from the end of August 2012 to June 2013, therefore i wore my Canada Goose Sale in various conditions (from nearly -20°C with wind, up to 8°C when I returned to France for 3 weeks), thus i think I have a fairly extensive, clear view on the caliber of the item.
So, as a lover of men’s fashion, beautiful materials and good fitting clothing: what exactly do I think about bulky parka?
Just before I report back, I’d want to take the time to think about Canada Goose’s brand image, which is rather ambiguous…
Hate it or enjoy it – 50 Cents feat. The Overall Game
Ah…the price. This is actually the flag the critics of Canada Goose proudly wave. For many haters (and trust me you can find lots) you’re a sucker whenever you invest in a Canada Goose because:
Actually, everything can be better in an ideal world if Canada Goose wasn’t so expensive, as including the biggest haters are unanimous over the caliber of the pieces.
Considering the quality of the merchandise, you receive a lot for your investment. I’ve looked and honestly, you are unable to find anything cheaper with similar quality (warning, my criteria did not just boil to ‘it has got to keep me warm’, I’ll come back to which a bit later on).
People often talk with me about North Face, which surprises me each time. Since if there’s a very expensive brand, it’s that. Honestly, to spend nearly 450 dollars for the 100% synthetic parka (fur and down), created in China, now that’s Extremely expensive for what it is. Find out more about synthetic vs down insulation here
And after that there’s an issue that’s never thought about by the critics: the cut.
Because it ought to be noted that it’s difficult to get parkas cut in addition to several of the Canada Goose designs. I’ve rightly said some designs, because there are some that will make you gaze just like a walking refrigerator.
walking refrigeratorSnow Mantra, 1200 Canadian dollars. It’s the warmest design, sure to keep you warm only -60°. It’s employed by Alaskan miners and those who are employed in the oil industry in far-flung icy parts on the planet. There’s also a strap on the shoulder that could help you save in desperate situations. You won’t look anything special using this type of face up, but at the very least you’ll stay alive.
military inspirationBanff, probably the most modified style of the company, by using a nice enough military inspiration. It’s only flaw? No pockets and also hardwearing . hands warm: it’s inside your interest to possess some gloves!
As being a side note, when you’ve spent the past 5yrs looking to find the best cut items of clothing for your personal figure, it’s a weighty argument. However I completely know that it’s not always the way it is for anyone. Inside my case, I simply can’t overlook it.
‘Yes, but you’re purchasing a brand name!’
I’ll be truthful together with you, that’s what I thought to begin with, nevertheless it isn’t the case.
Really, not at all. For instance, Quartz Nature is actually a less popular Quebec brand containing a similar prices as Canada Goose. Likewise, Kanuk, which is 100% a Quebec brand (the workshop is merely nearby to my home) is much more expensive than Canada Goose, with prices easily exceeding the 800 dollar mark!
KanukA Quartz Nature parka, 620 dollars, with a quality that’s similar to Canada Goose, however with a totally different brand identity for Quebecers, because the products are made in Quebec (french-speaking). And in many cases at that price, nobody dares to advise that you’re only investing in a brand…
So just why these prices? The fur that you see around the hoods is costly. As being a reason for interest, Kanuk sells interchangeable furs for the hoods for between 200 and 300 dollars. And you can also find no secrets: to get a piece that’s not made in China, with down and quality finish, you quickly achieve the 500/600 dollar price, or maybe more. It’s the actual price of things.
Kanuk (The supreme Quebec coat brand, but which costs a lot of money and is directed at a somewhat older audience) has this fur strip which alone costs…270 dollars!
I’ve gone off on a slight tangent, nevertheless it seemed necessary because, in my opinion, Canada Goose is a that may be unfairly stigmatized.
Right, so what’s it actually like wearing a Canada Goose parka on a regular basis?
There’s no part of drawing out your suspense: in the wintertime conditions of Montreal, it’s spectacular.
I am not surprised that this brand is given to workers in certain governmental bodies, since you get the feeling that its design is the consequence of a hellish experience in the cold.
To me, there are numerous brilliantly thought through details. That goes from the wire across the hood towards the thick, robust zipper (a detail sometimes missing from North Face designs, hello on the uphill battle when you’ve got gloves on) towards the two pairs of pockets for your personal hands lined completely with fleece, without forgetting the thick fleecey chin-protector.
And would it really help keep you warm?
Completely. It’s like you’ll never have the cold again. Even that slight morning freshness, or when you’re waiting around for the bus, or when you walk home following a winter’s evening out, you happen to be never cold. I can’t remember being cold once this winter. The protection versus the wind is exceptional. One weekend, I was at the carnival in Quebec, which is to mention spending six hours outside with a temperature that’s approaching the -20°s, but with some wind (I do not know exactly how much this g0ose the way the temperature feels, but say at least an added -10°) and it should be noted that you’re protected perfectly through the cold. Even at -20°. Even the size of the zipper remains safe and secure, which means the wind just never gets nearby the inside of your parka.
What’s more, the hood is super well-built, and even when you don’t use it up, it protects your ears. Basically this hood that protects your face perfectly from high winds is actually great, really effective.
On the other hand, these aren’t the garments for the sustained sporting activity. If you’re skiing at -15° and it’s windy, you’re bound to sweat. Originally, Canada Goose Outlet are intended for workers doing a great deal of standing around (which explains why bouncers love the company). Extreme mountain climbers tend to get brands like PHD, with equally impressive technical features. The Wiggy brand has some completely fire-proof parkas…
Nonetheless we’re still lightyears clear of a Wooyoungmi coat through an absolutely perfect cut. But having tested a couple of, Canada Goose is one of those rare parka brands to cherish the cut of some of their designs. And So I was surprised to discover that the shoulders of Banff, Chateau, Ontario and Citadel designs (by far the most ‘tight-fitting’ designs, everything relative) are already handled and are relatively high. If chosen well for your personal size, the parka doesn’t hang off shoulders, it’s neat and tidy.
Finally, and that i was surprised, it will always be the way it is using the most urban pieces a size S is a ‘true S’. Similarly, Canada Goose even does a size XS that is good to find out.
