Battle Of The Laptop Stickers, part 1
Bloggers spend a lot of time arguing over technical definitions of the term “Web 2.0″, but I don’t think anyone would dispute that the concept has a single, physical, real world manifestation: the sticker covered laptop.
Laptop owners will go to great lengths to find the best decorations, and companies envy the prime spots on fan’s machines: #1: the center back cover (where the apple goes) #2: inside right hand corner, next to the track pad. #1 is an advertisement showing the world what the owner wishes to support/promote, while #2 is the intimate section where the owner keeps the closest, most important stickers.
So what’s on your laptop? To enter the laptop sticker contest leave a link to photos in the comments. I’m sure we’ll come up with a great prize. Judging will be decided by you, the readers. Or maybe by us if we’re feeling lazy. Extra credit is given for resourcefulness, creativity, and breadth of content.
Here are a few early contenders plucked from Flickr:

Alexmuse
Alex’s sticker variety reveals that he frequents of San Francisco and has some connection to Texas. I’m guessing this guys was at SXSW. That M*A*S*H*UP sticker is pretty sweet, and he gets extra points for two rare and overlapping stickers: a beauty from Super Happy Dev House and a fan-produced sticker for Ritual Coffee Roasters, the official (if reluctant) cafe of the new internet in San Francisco.

Kosmar
Kosmar gives us a rare glimpse at the bottom of his laptop. This detail shot shows us that, while supporting Technorati, he isn’t afraid to kill web stars when necessary.

Someone at Bar Camp 05
Scott Beale of Laughing Squid captured this beauty. The decorator has combined art and technology by growing hand-cut flowers over an EFF sticker and creating a custom “flkrati” logo on the bottom left. To kick up the art side one huge notch, a Burning Man art car approval sticker (DMV/Make Believe) adorns the mid-right section.

Funnily enough, I took this photo a month ago, and never got around to uploading it to Flickr. Thanks for reminding me!

Ok, I am officially cheap. Since I cannot participate in the contest - due to complete absence of stickers on my Powerbook - I nevertheless ‘Alex-rigged’ a picture.

We’re right there with you Alterion (and Mattie). We’re very sorry for taking so long, and we made you this video:

The Paypal system automatically does the billing each month, but if you really want to be sure you don’t pay for two before getting one you could always cancel your subscription and re-subscribe next month. It would make us sad though, and the next video would be all of us moping around looking depressed.
